Week of October 7 Newsletter
Dear parents,
I hope you all had a great week and are ready for a great weekend! The students did a wonderful job this week after their time at Camp Stevens. They were very engaged in their learning and practiced new skills throughout the different subjects.
In Social Studies, the students created their own “Prehistoric Journals” where they created journal entries as if they were living during the Paleolithic and Neolithic Ages. They got to dig deeper in their learning and played different roles in their journal entries.
As we wrap up our first novel unit for “Things Hoped For,” the students create their very own movie posters that represents the novel. They drafted actors/friends/teachers to play the characters in their movies, gave a teaser for the movie, and also gave a review for the novel. It was a great ending to their first novel unit.
On October 23, we have our first field trip to The Nat, where we will be touring through the “Fossils Mysteries” and the “Skulls” exhibits. This will be a great conclusion for our first unit in Social Studies. Please make sure to sign the Permission Slip that will be passed out today, Friday, October 4, and will be due on Tuesday, October 8. I want to make sure I have all the permission slips, funds, and drivers before I head out!
Here is what we will be doing in academics next week:
Here are the upcoming jobs:
Kylie: Flag, Bell Ringer, Lunch Basket
Sydney: A.M. Ambassador, Class Chaplain, Substitute
Jordanne: A.M. Ambassador, Pledge Leader, Homework Post
Have a great weekend,
Miss Kapler
