September 3 Newsletter
Dear Parents,
We are off to a great school year! It has been a pleasure being your child’s teacher this year. I can tell this is an enthusiastic group of students who are eager to learn everyday.
Please make sure you check your child’s red Friday Folder weekly. There’s important information by the school and community passed out every week so please ask them to see their folder.
This week, the students worked hard all week learning many new things! We reviewed our writing skills through researching a country and completing an outline based on the facts they found. It is helping them prepare for when they write newspaper articles for the school. In reading, we concluded our class discussion of their summer novel reading, “Things Not Seen” through creating a reading wreath. Next week, we will begin reading the sequel to that novel called “Things Hoped For.”
In science, the students continued learning about the Scientific and Engineering Process through a STEM challenge. They created Straw Rockets and completed multiple investigations with different variables. They seemed to really enjoy themselves through this learning process.
Our class jobs change bi-weekly and below is this weeks job list:
Here are some important dates coming up:
- September 2 is no school due to Labor Day.
- September 5 is Back to School Night from 5:00-5:45. After in Hinde Hall, Mrs. Funk will have a meeting for more school information. Please make sure you are there!
Here is what we will be doing in class next week:
Have a great Labor Day weekend,
