September 2nd Newsletter
I'm looking forward to seeing you this Thursday at Back to School Night. 5th Grade's Back to School Night begins in the classroom at 5pm. An all-school meeting follows in Hinde Hall.
- This Friday will be our first trip to Spreckles for Writing in the Park. If you haven't yet done so, please make sure to sign this digital permission slip for your child to attend these walking field trips. Each student is encouraged to bring a beach towel to school for the park.
- Typically, you receive a weekly reflection each Friday to both facilitate a conversation between you and your child about school and keep you up-to-date. Today, however, we had to address behavior and choices made during lunch. A letter from me was included in your child's red Friday folder in place of our usual weekly reflection. I hope you were able to have a conversation with your child over the weekend. Here is a digital copy of the letter that went home. This week I'll be dedicating some class time to learn about and discuss empathy and inclusion.
HIGHLIGHTS FROM LAST WEEK
5th Grade Garden
Our class gardens are a sight to behold! We visited our garden box early last week to see it filled with fruits and vegetables! Students got to taste yellow tomatoes and even bring some home. Hopefully they weren't all gobbled up by the time your child got home and you got to enjoy one or two.
Food Chain Game
We'll continue practicing and reviewing our first set of vocabulary words this week with our first quiz on Friday.
