Last week in math we moved on in Unit 2, Addition and Subtraction, to Ch. 2 - Sum and Difference, and we're learning to draw models that represent mathematical statements. Two types of models were introduced: a part-whole model using one bar, and a comparison model using two or more bars. Modeling is a tool that can be used to solve problems, and through practice, students will become skilled with the modeling process.
In writer's workshop, students continue the work of writing their discovery drafts using a storyteller’s voice by including action and dialogue. Checking for comprehension and making higher-level predictions will be our focus this week in reading. We are learning about inheritance, traits, and selection in our Mystery Science lessons. This week we will ask and answer the question, How could you make the biggest fruit in the world?
Next Sunday, September 29th, is Day School Sunday at CCDS. Families are invited to join us in church at the 10:00 service. Students are asked to wear their uniforms and sit with their teachers in the front. Classrooms will be open after the service.
Scholastic Reading Club’s October fliers will go home this week in your child’s homework folder. For online orders, please go
I'm looking forward to seeing those who are able to make Mesmerica's 7:30 PM showing at the Fleet Science Center Planetarium on Friday, September 27th. It looks fantastic!
