October 21, 2019
On November 22nd is Grandparent Celebration at CCDS. Next week the students will be writing a letter to their grandparents asking them their age, the year they graduated from school, and advice they could give students. And if possible, send a picture via email, text, or letter to me. The students will present the information and advice of their grandparents to CCDS during the celebration. PLEASE PROVIDE AN ADDRESS TO YOUR CHILD’S GRANDPARENT and send it into school. Your child will address the envelope and mail the letter at the Coronado Post Office. I am hoping we can mail the letters by Friday, October 25th. We can only do one grandparent per child due to time restraints of the celebration. Please let your parent know to be on the lookout for a letter from their grandchild and start thinking of any advice to give. For example, Be Yourself; Work Hard & Study Hard; Try and See the Good in People; Be Nice to Everyone; Listen to Your Teacher (-; etc.
This week I taped in your child’s username and password information for Kids A-Z membership to the backside of his/her homework folder. This is an online portal where your child may access developmentally appropriate eBooks and eResources at home. Your child may read one of these books for nightly reading or for a homework assignment. Please help your child logon to the website and create a bookmark for future assignments. Thank you!
Help everyone enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday by donating food to the St. Mark’s food pantry. The CCDS student council has assigned the following for each week:
- Week of October 20th-boxed mashed potatoes
- Week of October 27th-canned green beans
- Week of November 3rd-canned green beans again
- Week of November 10th-dessert
- Week of November 17th-$15.00 grocery gift card for families to purchase something else they may need for Thanksgiving
Again, thank you for donating anything you can to those families that need a little extra help during the holidays!
In class we are studying about the Mexican-American tradition of Day Of the Dead. This is a picture of our classroom alter to remember the pets and relatives that have passed. It will be up until November 1st. If you'd like to send in a picture to add to our alter, please do.
