November 12 Newsletter
I hope you all had a great week and are ready for a three day weekend! The sixth grade class worked hard all week and they most definitely deserve a day off!
HIGHLIGHTS FROM THIS WEEK
After studying plant and animal cells, the sixth graders looked the microscopes at different types of cells and identified the organelles in each cell.
For our November novel study, sixth graders are teaming up with the fifth graders and reading books at their levels. These books are written in animal perspectives so the students will be able to identify the characteristics and how it affects the plot of the novel.
As we start a new unit in Social Studies, the sixth graders are learning about the Early Civilizations of Mesopotamia. To act as a scribe just like the ancient Sumerians, the students made clay tablets and wrote on it using the Sumerian writing system- cuneiform. They definitely learned how a struggle it was to be a scribe back then.
On Monday, November 11, there will be no school due to Veterans Day. Please enjoy your three day weekend and we will see you back at school on Tuesday, November 12!
Due to the Museum of Man closing the Ancient Egypt exhibit, we will not be attending a field trip this month, except for a Walking Field Trip to the park. They will be opening back up again in January so I will plan a trip to the museum around then as it is an exhibit I believe the students should see.
Conferences are coming up! Please check below for your time slot and see if it is the correct time frame you have. If you have any questions or issues with the scheduling, please contact me and I will do my best to make any accommodations.
For our Christmas present to the parents, we will be making a surprise for you all! Please have $6 per student no later than Tuesday, November 22. Thank you!
On Friday, November 22, CCDS will be welcoming everyone for our Grandparents Day Celebration. Please come and enjoy the performance at 2:20 p.m. in the church!
