Dear JK Families,
It was such a treat to see your children dressed up like Monarch butterflies for the Butterfly Song. They did a wonderful job singing and acting out the song! A special thanks to Mrs. K for helping them create their beautiful Monarch butterfly wings.
Last week, the students learned about fire safety, the importance of fire drills, and about a firefighter’s job, gear and equipment. They are very excited about Firefighter David’s upcoming visit (October 28).
Last week, I finished reading our rest time book, “Charlotte’s Web” by E.B. White, to the children and this week we will watch a classic animated version of this story. It’s interesting for the children to compare and contrast the similarities and differences between a book we have read and a video version of the same story. Our next rest time book will be “The Trumpet of the Swan” by the same author.
This week, CCDS will observe Red Ribbon Week and on Wednesday, the children may wear something red with their uniform. On Friday, they may wear crazy socks. The focus for Red Ribbon Week in JK will be on Halloween Safety Tips. We will talk about these in class and I encourage you to review them with your child at home (a copy of the tips will be sent home on Monday).
On Wednesday, Mrs. Funk will host a JK Parent Coffee in Hinde Hall at 8 a.m. Every week, Mrs. Funk hosts a coffee with the parents of a specific grade level to discuss topics of interest to them.
The Harvest Festival is this Friday! Our Room Rep, Mariana Gomez-Ibarra, sent you a request for volunteers to work in our JK booth. Volunteers are needed and appreciated!
