Junior Kindergarten
Dear JK Families,
The children enjoyed learning about the legend of the groundhog for Groundhog Day (today, February 2). We all predicted whether or not the groundhog would see its shadow. I asked the children to check with you to find out if the Groundhog sees its shadow on February 2 and we would share this news on Monday. Is it an early spring or is it, as in the song we sang last week, “six more weeks of winter – Oh No!”
This week we will begin making Valentine crafts and our letter of the week will be V for Valentine. The children will learn to fold paper, cut out symmetrical hearts and make Valentines for family and friends. I’m looking forward to reading the children one of my favorite books – “It’s Valentine’s Day” by Jack Prelutsky, filled with funny poems.
On Valentine’s Day, Friday, February 14, the children are encouraged to bring in Valentines for their classmates. Please make sure that your child has a Valentine for each member of the class (we have 13 students).
