Dear JK Families,
All week the students learned about mammals, birds and reptiles (animals with fur, feathers and scales) and how they differ from one another. The children created graphs and filled out classification worksheets for their Science Notebooks. Our animal unit has also included visits with live animals -- a canary (feathers), a gecko (scales) and next week, a guinea pig (fur)! Many thanks to Sebastian’s mom, Mariana, for bringing in the family pets!
This week, our Letter of the Week will be “G” for Groundhog Day which is coming up next Sunday, February 2. This is a fun way to continue our animal study and to review the seasons and the hibernation units that we studied at the beginning of the month. Also, the children are making good progress forming and writing the Letters of the Week by using our multi-sensory “Handwriting Without Tears” program in the classroom and by practicing writing the letters at home with you.
The Great Kindness Challenge Week for the school is Monday through Friday this week. Friday will be Spirit Day and the children may wear Kindness T-Shirts that day. If you would like to buy a Kindness T-shirt for your child, be sure to turn in the order form on Monday.
