Dear Families,
Welcome back! I hope you and your family enjoyed the Winter Break! It was nice to spend a relaxing time at home and catch up on things here.
We begin the 3rd trimester this week. In math, we will begin our study of measurement with Unit 6 Length in our 3B book. This week we study centimeters, meters, and kilometers.
We look forward to our trip to the Davis-Horton House in the Gaslamp Quarter on Thursday. As we continue our study of San Diego history, we will go back in time to the 1890s and meet the beloved town dog, Bum, and the historical figures and points of interest he visited. We will tour the Davis-Horton House, take a short walk around the Gaslamp to look at several notable buildings up close, and enjoy our lunch in the adjoining pocket park before returning to school around 1:15pm. Students are to wear their uniform and bring their lunch and a drink. We will have our regular snack time before we leave school.
Many students at school are missing their red sweaters. Please check backpacks and home for them. This is also a good time to make sure that your child's name is clearly labeled on the inside collar their sweater.
Scholastic Book orders went home last Friday. Should you wish to order, please do so by this Friday, February 28th. Go to Scholastic.com. Our class code is GXN34. Or you may wish to wait for our school Book Fair that will be held from March 2nd-6th.
Thank you Mrs. Alvarez and Mrs. Weed for the amazing art history lesson. We enjoyed learning about the art and architecture of ancient Rome. It was wonderful to be able to make connections with ancient Rome and what we are learning in California history, that of the building of aqueducts. We were excited to know that!
Thank you for all the sweet valentines on Valentine's Day! They made my day!
Have a wonderful week.
Ms. Anne Raymond
