December 16th Newsletter
Dear Parents,
It's the last week of school before winter break, and there is sure to be a lot of excitement on campus. This Friday we'll be going out with a bang as we get together with our JK buddies, enjoy a class party with games and gift exchange, and transition to break after a ceremonious Closing Chapel. Closing chapel will begin at 11am. The service is typically about 45 minutes long and students are dismissed immediately after. We will say goodbye and dismiss from our usual kiosk location in the courtyard. I'll see the kiddos back on campus January 6th! Remember, we have a field trip that very next day. All permission slips and payment are due this week. Complete the permission form below asap if it's slipped by you in the past newsletters.
TO DO
- If you haven't already done so, please complete this permission slip and submit payment to the office by 12/16 (that's this Monday). Thank you!
- Friendly reminder: Students should bring in a present for our white elephant class gift exchange this week. Gifts should be wrapped but not addressed to/from anyone. The cost of the gift should not exceed $15. Feel free to reach out if you're stuck on what to get.
- Look for red folders and weekly reflections on Monday. I was out of school last Friday so they weren't sent home.
- This Wednesday is a holiday-themed free dress day!

OVERVIEW OF THIS WEEK'S CLASS TOPICS
All geography quizzes are cumulative. Rather than spend a month on this unit, I chunk it and stretch it out throughout the school year so students don't simply memorize for a test and forget. The goal is for students to learn US geography and solidify this learning into long term memory so it can be helpful throughout life. We progress slowly through state and capital identification throughout the year so it can stick in long-term memory. If your child struggled with the state identification on the last capital test, encourage him/her to review the state locations and abbreviations throughout the week.
Respectfully,
Celeste Caso
