4th Grade Update for Jan 27-31
Good evening, 4th grade families,
I have had a good time in the class this week reviewing bar model problems with the class, and they are feeling more and more comfortable with this part of math. I will continue with this review as well as the fraction review. I looked over the fraction packet, and they all seem to understand mixed numbers and improper fractions. I will be handing that packet back on Monday and conferencing with any students who have questions.
Looking ahead to next week, the class is ready for a test in Social Studies on chapter 5- Mission Life. I will play a Jeopardy review game with them on Monday and they will have the test on Tuesday. I had them put this in their agendas/planners this afternoon. The class is also reviewing shapes and will have a test on this on Wednesday. Next up will be solid shapes and a cumulative test the following week. After that we will tackle area and perimeter!
This week they will also be having a classroom Geography Bee on Tuesday, and the top three students will compete in the school bee on Thursday. A study packet went home with the students this afternoon. This is optional but will give them a chance to review different types of geography questions. They know that this is a hard Bee, as it is for grades 4-8, so they are not expected to know all of the answers. It is a fun event!
Following the social studies' test, we will resume science and sound waves. The students will also receive a packet about their mission as we start the research process for this report. Details about this project will be sent home later in the week. The class will also continue with the GREAT Program with Officers Grace and Meghan. It is busy in 4th grade!
I hope you all have a great weekend! Next week we will highlight kindness throughout the campus and generosity in collecting canned goods at the Spaghetti Dinner on Monday night. It is a wonderful event and I encourage you all to join us that evening!
Have a great week!
