Sept. 16, 2020 Opening Christ Church Day School with a focus on Safety, Academics, and Community
Christ Church Day School is fortunate to open its doors to in-person instruction on September 8, 2020! By dividing the student body in half, we are able to welcome students daily for a morning session or an afternoon session. Daily in-person instruction with our students was a high priority for us, and with our small class sizes and re-arranged classrooms, we can safely bring our students and faculty together every day.
CCDS is following CDC, State, and County guidelines, as well as guidelines from the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego, to open our school. Masks are worn by both students and faculty, hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the campus, social distancing is enforced in and outside the classroom, routine cleaning procedures have been established, and health screenings are conducted before students and staff arrive on campus.
Beginning of the year assessments were held with 1-on-1 meetings with teachers meeting outside with students before school began. Technology is being introduced at all levels, and our curriculum is being taught in every grade. It is truly a wonderful place where learning and growing are happening each day!
Even though we are keeping our distance for safety, we are gathering together virtually for Chapel Services and All-School Assemblies. These very important events continue to foster the community atmosphere here at CCDS. In the next few weeks, we will gather together virtually to bless our pets, celebrate Episcopal School’s Week, and enjoy Back to School Bingo!
Thank you to everyone for helping with the precautions we have in place. We will continue to monitor the case numbers in San Diego County, as well as the updated Dept. of Health and State guidelines, and pray that we may stay in-person for quite a while.
