March 10, 2020 CCDS Virus Precautions

Good morning, CCDS Families,

The safety and health of our students, staff, and families is a priority here at CCDS. We have been monitoring the coronavirus here in San Diego County and following guidelines sent out from the CDC, Coronado Unified, and the Diocese. We are looking to public health officials for guidance on preventative measures and possible closures, and at this time we are assured that we do not need to close our school.
To protect our students and staff here on campus, each day we are wiping down desks, bathrooms, and door handles. We are encouraging everyone to continually wash their hands, and each classroom has hand sanitizer and tissues available.
We are asking for your help when your child is coughing or feeling poorly. Please keep your child home if they have a persistent cough, or if they are running a fever or vomiting. They cannot return to school until they are 24 hours fever and vomit free without medication.  If you have other concerns, please contact your doctor. We also encourage our students to get plenty of rest, eat healthy, and drink water.
We have a flyer in each bathroom and water fountain that outlines what we all should be doing. These steps include-
  - wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  - avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  - avoid contact with people who are sick
  - cover coughs and sneezes with a tissue and throw the tissue away immediately
  - stay at home when you are sick and call the school to keep us updated

The Episcopal Diocese of San Diego has sent guidance about this, and can be viewed here.   If you have any questions and concerns, please reach out to me.
Thank you,
Nancy Funk
