Grades K-2: Hitting balls 

Motor Development:

    INDIVIDUAL FOOT-EYE SKILLS:

            *dribbling under control while walking, jogging, moving around cones

       *kicking – stationary and on the move           

   PARTNER/GROUP FOOT-EYE SKILLS:

            *trapping with bottom of foot and inside/outside of foot

            *passing – stationary and on the move  

   STRIKING WITH BALLOONS OR BALLS

            *one hand, two hand, various body parts

            *at a wall, underhand and overhand

Social Development:

            *cooperate with others

            *follow directions

            *understand rules of games

            *demonstrate pro-social skills during play

Personal Development:

            *enjoy self while playing

            *allow self to take risks with new opportunities

            *aware of others and has a sense of safety

            *attempts to problem solve

Grades K-2: Dancing

 Motor Development:

           *utilize various locomotive skills during rhythms

           *show body control

           *perform a sequence of movements

           *demonstrate directionality

           *develop a sense of timing

           *manipulate objects

Social Development:

           *demonstrate good listening skills

           *follow directions

           *cooperate with partner and/or group

           *engage in creative self-expression

           *develop an appreciation for other performers

Personal Development:

           *establish personal space

           *develop an appreciation for music

           *perform without inhibition

           *have a sense of accomplishment after performing

 

Grades 3–6: Softball

Skills:

           *throwing and catching

           *underhand throw

           *hitting

           *base running

 

The Presidential Physical Fitness Award

This award recognizes youth who achieve an outstanding level of physical fitness. Boys and girls who score at or above the 85th percentile of qualifying standards on all five activities are eligible for this award. 

The National Physical Fitness Award

This award is for those who score at or above the 50th percentile on all five activities, but fall below the 85th percentile in one or more of the events. This demonstrates a basic, yet challenging, level of physical fitness.

The Participant Physical Fitness Award

Those whose scores fall below the 50th percentile on one or more activities receive this award for taking part in the Physical Fitness Test.
