....... CCDS INFORMER
Mrs. Roberts - Headmistress

“Readabunga,” what fun we have had with that silly word!
Over the course of five weeks, the students and families of
CCDS have read 251,049 minutes. Our CCDS surfing dophin
hit the beach and has now retired for the year. I hope you
were able to attend the laser show on Friday. The children
loved this exciting assembly celebrating their accomplishments.
The school community thanks the fourth and kindergarten
parents, led by Molly Rainey, Lori Shellenberger, Valerie
Murline, Jackie Scotchmer, and John Weimann
for
making this such a successful program again this year.
Now that the program has come to an end, we hope you all have discovered the
joy of reading individually and as a family and will make reading one of your
continuing hobbies. That is what being a Life Long Learner, which is a CCDS
Schoolwide Expectation (SLE), is all about. So for one last time - READABUNGA!

Here is one last reminder. There are a few short weeks until the end of the quarter,
and it would not be unusual for spring fever to set in. So please check your children’s
homework. Don’t do it for them, but check it for accuracy and quality. Support your
child by reviewing, signing and returning any tests sent home for you to sign. This will
help your children stay on track and finish the year taking advantage of all the CCDS
and the individual teachers have to offer.

Thank you, wonderful room reps for meeting with me monthly and sending out the
summaries to your various classes. You always bring good ideas to the table and assist
your fellow parents by keeping them in the loop. Please note the change in dates for
Open House ( March 29th) and Spring Sing (April 28th).

This week the 3rd grade is scheduled for the Friday Coffee in Hinde Hall at 8:05.

It was with deep sadness that the Day School Community
learned of Mrs. Moody’s death today. We are grateful for all
that she added to our lives. Her love of music and sharing
that love with the CCDS students through many Christmas
programs, Hotel Del performances, Spring Sings, choir, and
the daily music classes was a blessing to many lives.
The students and staff will gather to comfort one another
and give thanks for Mrs. Moody’s life in chapel at 8:00 am
tomorrow. Parents are invited to attend with their students.

Please join Mrs. Moody’s family in a celebration of her life
at a memorial service this Saturday at 1:00.

Spiritual Nurture

The season of Epiphany is drawing to a close and our school community
is preparing to observe together the season of Lent. In spiritual nurture
this week, we’ll be discussing the meaning of the imposition of ashes
on Ash Wednesday. Our goal is to approach Lent in an age-appropriate way,
with an emphasis on God’s endless love and forgiveness.

Happy Birthday this week to
Carter Grimes (K) 3/7
Tanner Jansen (2nd) 3/10
Kelli Morris (2nd) 3/11
