Happy New Year!
New beginnings are always exciting, even in the middle of
a school year! Starting the year off with enthusiasm and fun,
the Mad Science group put on an assembly the first thing this
morning at 8:00. Experiments, designed to capture the students’
attention and imagination, will centered on NASA and Space.
Our “scientist” offered a taste of the Mad Science after school
sessions, which will start on January 20th. Ask your child about
it and dig in those backpacks for flyers to enroll in the 4 sessions.
On Wednesday morning at 8:00 in Hinde Hall, we will hold our first CCDSPA
room representative meeting for the New Year to discuss the remaining activities
for the year. Remember, all are welcome. Then at noon, the 4th grade parents will
host a much-appreciated lunch for our busy teachers. In the afternoon, the teachers
come together as a Committee of the Whole to start building steps into the four
Year Action Plan for our WASC report. (The target date for mailing the complete
report is June 29th.) On the last day of the week, there will be the Friday coffee for
the 6th grade parents. So you can see we are right back in the swing of things, and
that’s the way it should be in busy, but effective, child centered school.
The end of the semester is three short weeks away. So help keep your child
centered and on task to bring this semester to a strong finish. Each teacher has
special things planned to make learning engaging, as well as, challenging.
Be sure to read the classroom up-dates on the website. Remember, go to the
home page of ccds.org, click on parents, then parent community, then classroom
pages and highlight your child’s grade in the drop down window. No passwords
or logging in required. Or teachers will send out a link when they up-date the
their pages weekly.
Our 6th graders will be serving dinner next Wednesday, January 13th, for the
parish spaghetti dinner benefiting the food pantry of St. Mark’s church.
Mark your calendar for a “no-cook” night and help others who are less fortunate
at the same time. Watch for details in the Informer.
Please reserve January 20th for a community meeting to review the WASC
report before it is mailed off. This project has taken over a year of dedicated work
with input from all of you. So now is your chance to see the final report. The
meeting will start at 6:30.
One last request - Please let’s start the New Year off safely. Follow the pick up
procedures in the afternoon and keep the space between the two gates,
especially the crosswalk area, clear. Gather to the left or the right, but not
between the gates to greet friends and families. THANK YOU!!!!
