FROM MRS. ROBERTS
Thank you to Galen Steinhoff for starting
my week off with such a special event.
Galen was baptised Sunday.
Congratulations and best wishes to
Galen and her family.
Welcome to the last week of school for 2008!
It is a wonderful week of preparation in many ways.
In chapel and in classrooms, children have been
learning about the meaning of Advent and the gifts
we can offer that do not need batteries or fall out of popularity.
The Christmas Program, Scooge, will be presented at 6:30 on Tuesday
night (children are to arrive at 6:15). Mrs. Moody and the children are
very excited about this program. Parents who are new to CCDS this year
are in for a real surprise. Church doors will open at 6:15. Children should
remain with parents until that time.
On Thursday, students will arrive in party clothes. (This is the day to wash
and mend those sweaters for Closing Chapel.) First, we will practice for
closing Christmas Chapel. Next the students, staff and guest will feel very
honored to attend the Christmas Luncheon hosted by the 5th grade parents.
Parents, serving at the Christmas luncheon is great fun. The 5th grade parents
are in charge of this activity, but on the day of the luncheon they need about
30 servers. So if you would like to serve contact Tami Woods at HYPERLINK
"mailto:twoods@san.rr.com"and arrive at Hinde Hall by 11:00 on the 18th.
Bringing the day to a fitting close, we will process to Church where Father Ron
will read the real story of Christmas accompanied by illustrations depicting the
story from our own awesome CCDS artists. Before the 1:00 dismissal,
Mrs. Moody will lead us in singing Christmas carols.
On Friday morning, Closing Chapel will begin at 8:15. Children are to arrive in
dress uniform, including dress shoes at the normal time, 7:55. I encourage all
parents to attend, not only because dismissal for Christmas vacation is immediately
after (about 8:40), but more importantly because the service is inspirational and
beautiful. During the service, Father Ron will share a few thoughts with us.
The children will be singing Silent Night holding candles, which will spread the
glow of candlelight representing the light of Christ. It is a beautiful way to begin
the holidays.
So in this time of preparation, amidst the inevitable hustle and bustle of the
holidays, I wish you quiet moments. I wish you moments to reflect on the
importance of the Christ Child. I wish you moments to savor the joys, as well
as the responsibilities, children bring into our lives. In addition, I wish us all
peaceful moments and time to ponder our hopes and dreams for our children
and their futures.
Merry Christmas!
