....... CCDS INFORMER
Mrs. Roberts - Headmistress

FROM MRS. ROBERTS

Welcome back. I hope your vacation was wonderful.
Here is one more piece of news we are thankful for at CCDS.
Through the efforts of the Parents Association at the Dinner
Auction, money has been added to the Teacher’s Professional
Development Fund. It now totals $5,200.

During the Advent season, we are preparing for celebration of
the birth of Christ. If we carry the spiritual message of Christmas
in our hearts, it will be easier to stay grounded during this time of
excitement and anticipation, which plays out on so many levels.

It is a season to treasure friends and families, and one way we do this is through
celebrations. At CCDS we attempt this seasonal balancing act of spiritual nurture
and the many fun events involved in this celebration. So to assist you with this
balancing act at home, here is a list of up–coming events with a brief explanation
of each one. Details will follow weekly. Because we enjoy the Christmas Luncheon
organized by the 5th grade parents, there are no classroom Christmas parties.

This week:
Families may choose to take an angel of a specific age off the angel tree in
Hinde Hall
, and anonymously give a gift that is wrapped and tagged with the angel
tag. Gifts go under the angel tree in Hinde Hall, and will be delivered to children
less fortunate than our students. You may choose this way to give your child the
gift of giving and knowing they have helped someone for no other reason than they
should share the true meaning of Christmas by helping and loving others.

in your classroom by the 15th. Gifts should be marked for a boy or a girl.

All students will be required to wear uniform slacks. Shirts will be provided.

Dec. 16th Sweaters go home for washing and mending for closing chapel.

Dec. 18th Christmas Luncheon at 11:30, followed by Chapel story and carols.
Dismissal at 1:00

Dec. 19th Closing Christmas Chapel starts at 8:15
(school starts at 7:55 as usual). Dismissal follows chapel at about 9:00.
You won’t want to miss this service! It is a beautiful tradition at CCDS

Even though the next few weeks are very busy, school and learning goes on.
Be sure to check those homework books/ classroom calendars nightly to keep
your student on track and not playing catch-up the night before a test.
That makes everyone grumpy and not nice, and we all know who is watching!

......... News Flash

You may be seeing retired teacher, Mrs. Janie Hansen around campus. While she has
not come out of retirement to teach, she has agreed to be our CCDS WASC Self-Study
Coordinator. (Yes, it is that time again.) Janie and I have teamed together to lead this
effort for the past two Self Studies. Needless to say, I am thrilled that she is willing to
take on this demanding task once again. – Nancy Roberts
